Ledger.com/Start — Quick Start & Secure Setup

1. Unbox & Connect

Check packaging for tamper evidence. Connect your Ledger device (USB or Bluetooth for Nano X) and open Ledger.com/Start.

1. Inspect the box and device for signs of tampering.
2. Connect via USB (or pair via Bluetooth for Nano X) then visit the official start page.
3. Follow on-screen prompts to verify authenticity and proceed with setup.

2. Install Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the official companion app for managing accounts, installing apps, and handling transactions.

• Download Ledger Live only from the official link on Ledger.com/Start.
• Use Ledger Live to install coin apps, manage accounts, and update firmware.

3. Initialize & Create Recovery Phrase (CRITICAL)

Your device will generate a 24‑word recovery phrase. This is the single most important piece of data.

• Write the recovery phrase on the provided recovery sheet. Do not photograph or store it digitally.
• Store copies securely (consider fireproof storage or geographically separate copies).
• If you lose this phrase, you lose access to your funds.

4. Firmware & App Management

• Apply firmware updates only through Ledger Live and confirm updates on-device.
• Install coin-specific apps from Ledger Live, not from third parties.

5. PIN & Optional Passphrase

Set a secure PIN to restrict device access. Advanced users can enable a passphrase (acts like an extra secret word) for hidden wallets.

6. Using Your Ledger Safely

• Always confirm transaction details on your device screen before approving.
• Use Ledger Live for daily operations and never enter your recovery phrase into any computer or phone.
• Beware of phishing: type Ledger.com/Start manually and avoid suspicious links.

Warning: If you suspect compromise, create a new wallet on a new device and transfer funds immediately.
